NEPA: power cuts in Lagos Life

NEPA — the old name Nigerians still use for the power company — is shorthand for power cuts. The game references it because outages are part of the texture of everyday life.

How it plays out

A power cut can disrupt routine: it affects what you can do at home and how well you can restore certain needs. It is one of the small, local frictions that make the city feel real.

Planning around it

• Do not rely on a single way to restore a need.
• Keep a little buffer in your money and energy for interruptions.
• Treat outages as flavour, not a failure on your part.

Why it matters to the feel

Systems like this are what separate a locally-flavoured life sim from a generic one. They reward players who know the city’s rhythms.
